Bradford has had a long association with the Scott Trial, indeed most of the Scott Company’s management were Club members. Up to 1925 the Scott Company organised the event which was an Authorised Event without a Permit.
Following the promotion of the Leeds £200 trial in 1925 on behalf of the Yorkshire Evening News, Scott Trial Secretary Alec Dovener was suspended for one year by the ACU. The affair caused changes of Auto Cycle Union’s Rules in 1925, establishing that only clubs could promote ACU approved events. Bradford took over the organisation previously undertaken by the Scott Motor Cycle Company and ran the 1926 event. The following year the Yorkshire Centre took over, with Alex Dovener back as Secretary. Nowadays the event is promoted by the Richmond Motor Club, but Bradford perpetuates the memory of two of its Members particularly associated with the event, by the provision of replicas each year for the cups they donated. The members commemorated being the Late Billy Moore of Keighley (Vewsix of the Moor) and double Scott Trial winner, the Late Eddie Flintoff from Tyersal Bradford.

The Late Geoff Broadbent achieved fame in the post-war years as a ‘works’ supported rider for the Royal Enfield Company. Besides being an active Bradford member he had a close association with the West Leeds Club. to commemorate Geoff’s many successes in the Ilkley Grand National, a joint award is made for the Best Bradford or West Leeds novice in the Ilkley GN.
